Invite: “IPads & Organizations” Workshop at Pacific Northwest OD Network November 15th
We’re excited to announce that we’ll be presenting our workshop on “iPads & Organizations: Using Design Methods as OD Interventions†at next week’s Pacific Northwest Organization Development Network Meeting. We piloted this workshop in September for our colleagues at the Seattle ISPI Chapter, and presented it to a standing-room only audience at the national OD Network Conference 2010 in New Orleans last month. We’ve tweaked it a little each time, so if you’ve been before, it will be different this time. Be sure to RSVP to PNODN if you wish to attend (details below):

DESCRIPTION:
What do iPads & effective organizations have in common? Both are the result of the intentional creation of an authentic emotive experience. When Peter Block, addressed the Organization Development Network at their 2009 annual conference, he encouraged OD professionals to integrate design thinking into their work. Tim Brown, CEO of global design firm IDEO, recently asked “Can organizations be beautiful?â€
Fresh from presenting at the National OD Conference 2010 in New Orleans, Tonya Peck and Alex M Dunne will lead a highly engaging discussion on the relationship between Design and OD . This workshop will explore both ideas, the similarities between design and OD, and how to leverage design methods as OD interventions. Attendees will participate in design exercises, explore case studies, and identify how they might use design methods in their own work. After attending this 90 min session, participants will be able to:
1.     Define Design Thinking and its components
2.     Identify commonalities between the approach, principles, and methods of Design and OD
3.     Describe opportunities to integrate Design into their own use of these popular OD approaches
