Our First Project…
LOCOMOTIVE has a number of projects underway right now, but we’d like to share with you an early one that we’ll be wrapping up shortly:
The Organizational Development Network (ODN) is a national professional association for practitioners in the field of OD. Founded in 1972, ODN has several thousand members across the country, publishes a noted quarterly research magazine, and convenes several large conferences each year including an Annual Conference that attracts 1000 people.
When we met ODN, they expressed a wonderful curiosity about social media and how it might benefit the learning and growth of the organization and its members. LOCOMOTIVE proposed an experiment: we’d run an ODN Twitter account for a period of time before, during, and after their next annual conference. We’d focus on using the tool to create connections within the community, and report back on what emerged from the experiment (the adaptive change piece). We’d also hand back to them a populated Twitter account with a month’s worth of posts, followers, etc (the technical change piece). We like delivering a combination of technical and adaptive change in this manner because it generates near-term business value while identifying long-term growth opportunities.
This work is ongoing, and we’ll share here a daily digest of the activity generated by the experiment, as well as any relevant learning that comes out of it.
Stay tuned for more, and thanks for your support.
